About Robert Ropars

I was born in August 1970 in New Jersey, but quickly moved and grew up in the Akron, Ohio area. My family moved south and we lived briefly in Tulsa, Oklahoma before returning to Ohio (Hudson) and in 1986 settled in the Chicago, Illinois area.

I graduated from Benet Academy (Lisle, IL) in 1988, went to and graduated from North Central College (Naperville, IL) with a BA in English-writing in 1992.

Over the years I continued to write, but in 2008 restarted my writing by publishing “Carriage Returns” (a collection of 20 years’ worth of my poetry). I followed that up in 2009 with “Romantic Confessions” featuring all new poetry and haiku. Between those two I learned the mechanics of self-publishing (both via print-on-demand for paperbacks and online for ebooks). Beginning in 2010, I began to write and publish horror fiction as short stories and collections. These works are my attempt to have stronger female main characters and revisit classic monsters in new ways.

I continue to live in the far western Chicago suburbs with my lovely wife Nikole (and fiendish editor).

  1. I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the structure of your
site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.

Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two pictures.
Maybe you could space it out better?
